The key role Valencia star is set to play in Man United’s Jadon Sancho pursuit

Manchester United have prioritised signing a right-winger this summer with Jadon Sancho identified as the number one target.

As reported by the Evening Standard, Borussia Dortmund starlet Sancho has the ‘X-factor’ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for, alongside a humbleness which fits the perfect criteria in United’s recruitment plan.

Sancho is expected to leave Germany to begin the next chapter in his career after lighting up the Bundesliga in the past two seasons.

The 20-year-old scored 14  goals and assisted a further 15 in the league before this season was indefinitely postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

While Sancho is seen as the dream signing for the Reds, it’s important that United have prepared accordingly if they miss out on the England international.

According to Goal, United have joined the race to sign highly-rated Valencia winger Ferran Torres this summer.

The 20-year-old has not been as prolific as Sancho in his fledgling career, but is another of the hottest young prospects in European football.

Torres is said to have a £92m buyout clause in his contract but his La Liga side would be willing to sell him for a much cheaper price.

Interestingly, however, Borussia Dortmund are the ones leading the chase for Torres’ signature.

As noted by Goal journalist Ronan Murphy, Dortmund have been in contact with Valencia over the Spain U21 star’s future.

If Torres does complete a move to Dortmund, who are known for developing young players, it could help facilitate United’s move for Sancho.

Dortmund may be willing to let their star man go at a slightly cheaper price if they know they have secured their number one target as his replacement.

Torres’ future is certainly something to keep an eye on where summer headlines will inevitably be dominated by Sancho to United talk.
