Manchester United growing confident in race to sign £135m La Liga star identified as ideal Pogba replacement

Given the financial crisis currently facing European football, many feel thus summer’s transfer window will be quieter than usual, but not the tabloids. They think it will be busier than ever — as is the case at this stage of every year.

There’s no football being played with the Premier League suspended, so the likes of the Daily Star will use this time to write more about potential transfers, such as Manchester United’s growing belief over landing Saul Niguez.

Apparently, Ed Woodward is confident of getting a deal done which would see United pay £135m to activate the 25-year-old’s release clause. The Spanish midfielder is three hears into a nine-year contract but Atletico Madrid have been trying to discuss new terms with their player that would increase the buyout clause.

The report in question also claims United have identified Saul as the perfect replacement for Paul Pogba, should Atleti’s rivals Real Madrid finally stump up the money required to sign the want-away star.

In other news, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was linked with a move to United last week, but the Daily Express claims he features among Real Madrid’s options.
