What Cristiano Ronaldo said that motivated Man Utd midfielder Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes has revealed some words of encouragement from Cristiano Ronaldo that motivated him earlier on in his career.

The midfielder is hoping to emulate the impact that Ronaldo made at Old Trafford, and has so far made a wonderful start to his Manchester United career.

And Bruno has credited Ronaldo for being a role model to look up early on his career. The 25-year-old revealed what his idol said to him upon his first international call up with Portugal.

“We look at him as an idol, he has always been an idol for me. I followed his example, he is one of my favourites,” Fernandes said, as quoted by Squawka.

“When I was called up by Portugal, he came to me saying, ‘You are doing a good job at Sporting, I like it’. Words like these make the difference.”

As well as being one of the most talented footballers that has ever lived, Ronaldo is also the consummate professional and is always looking to better himself, even after a career of such unprecedented success.

Fernandes has some way to replicate the success of Ronaldo in Manchester, but he is certainly making the right impression amongst his fellow teammates and fans.

He has completely revitalised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side into a potent attacking force with his quality and vision in attacking midfield, netting three goals and contributing four assists in nine appearances in all competitions.

Fernandes was the deserved winner of the Premier League player of the month award for Ferbruary, his first full month at the club.
