Even during the times when Man United were miles ahead of Man City, the derby atmosphere could come into things and it means doing the double of their City neighbours wasn’t always automatic.
They completed it this season after a great first half where they looked on top and likely to score more than one, followed by a second half of dogged defending and excellent discipline.
Interestingly United also completed the league double over Chelsea this season too, and it’s even more remarkable when you realise the last time that actually happened:

Of course City spent plenty of time outwith the top division so it wasn’t always possible to even attempt it, but it’s actually huge when you look at the table this season.
Bitter fans can often try to point at a lack of success against the better teams in the league, but those results mean it’s 12 points from 12 available against two of the teams above them, and that could be huge when it comes to Champions League qualification.
