Wayne Rooney’s bizarre embrace for Andreas Pereira at full-time was picked up by the TV cameras and prompted some great responses from United fans last night.
The all-time leading United goalscorer and Derby midfielder gave Pereira a cheeky slap on the face, after his side were knocked out with relative ease at Pride Park.
Rooney still showed glimpses of class in the game, and went close with free-kicks on two occasions, only to be thwarted by Sergio Romero.

Pereira, meanwhile, came on from the bench as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer allowed Bruno Fernandes an early rest ahead of the pivotal Manchester derby on Sunday.
It was a case of getting the job done last night for the Reds, and they will face a trip to Carrow Road to play Norwich in the quarter-final as they eye a semi-final Wembley visit.
But it was Rooney’s greeting with Andreas Pereira at full-time that had caught the attention of United fans.
