Surely Manchester United can’t be foolish enough to let Angel Gomes leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The 19-year-old’s contract runs out this summer, and there seems to have been little progress made in negotiating a new deal to remain at Old Trafford. Gomes will be understandably frustrated at a lack of first-team minutes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.
The attacking midfielder has failed to kick on into the first-team despite high expectations that he would do so, but we were given another example of his remarkable talents last night.
Gomes, alongside Tahith Chong and James Garner, are outstanding when performing for Neil Wood’s U23’s and Gomes and Garner were the difference in a league game away to Stoke City last night.

The Reds held on for a 3-2 win, their third consecutive league victory, but it was the third goal that really caught the eye.
Gomes played a perfectly weighted first-time ball over the top, which was latched onto by Garner who finished delicately past the goalkeeper.
