Boost for Man Utd as Pogba nears return after long time out

Our friends at Sport Witness have translated a French report from L’Equipe suggesting that Paul Pogba now ‘sees the light’.

They are referring to the midfielder’s recovery from injury rather than a decision on his future.

Pogba has been a huge miss for the Red Devils this season, rarely being available for the manager due to an ongoing ankle injury, but he won’t walk into the team as things stand.

The arrival of Bruno Fernandes has been boosted by the return of Scott McTominay. With Fred and Nemanja Matic both having improved massively in recent weeks United are finally ticking in the middle of the pitch.

This has been the case for the past 3-4 weeks so it’s early days.

Still, I think everyone would like to see Pogba and Fernandes on the same pitch at some point. The Portugal international is getting more out of the players around him — and his creativity would without question benefit Pogba.

L’Equipe claim Pogba is expected to resume group training ‘early next week’. When discussing a return date as far as matches go, it’s suggested he could return against Man City on March 8th, however, Tottenham a week later is likelier.

Pogba has apparently told those close to him that he’s ready to return. Convenient timing, of course, with an international break coming up.

It will be interesting to see if Pogba does come back how much of an impact he will have on the team between now and the end of the season…
