Video: MNF crown the ‘Greatest English club side ever’ as Man Utd & Liverpool dominate top spots

The Monday Night Football team have named their ‘Greatest Ever English Club Side’ — an honour gone to the Liverpool team from the mid-70s.

From the Tottenham and Leeds United sides in the 1960s, to Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Everton who also had their time in the sunshine. There was a great selection to pick from.

Arsenal’s Invincibles can’t go ignored, and the same goes for José Mourinho’s Chelsea side during the 2000s.

It came down to a tussle between Liverpool and Manchester United, the two titans of English football.

Liverpool’s side under Bob Paisley judge edges out Sir Alex Ferguson’s team between 2006 and 2009.

These rankings were baed on the points system as detailed in the video below (via Sky Sports):

Jamie Carragher puts a strong argument forward for Paisley’s side who won the European Cup in two consecutive seasons, and Neville doesn’t even try to disagree. He states that greatness cannot be determined in one season — it has to be proven over time.
