Dean Henderson: PSG and Chelsea in race to sign Man Utd goalkeeper

Dean Henderson’s exceptional form for Sheffield United is unsurprisingly attracting interest from top European clubs.

According to ESPN, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are both keen on signing the Manchester United loanee this summer.

The 22-year-old is enjoying his second season-long loan spell in Sheffield but is expected to return back to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Henderson’s performances have been instrumental in Chris Wilder’s side’s remarkable rise to fifth in the Premier League table this season.

Rather embarrassing for the Reds, Henderson’s Blades currently sit four points and three positions above Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the league.

ESPN’s report suggests United are keen to keep Henderson, and the possibility of a new contract to reflect his rise has been mooted.

But with David De Gea in between the sticks, United are left in a precarious position when it comes to Henderson”s future.

Solskjaer knows he has one of the most promising goalkeepers in world football among his ranks, but will be unlikely to offer him much first-team football while he is at the club.

We do not expect Henderson to settle for a place on the bench next season, either.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is said to be concerned over the form of Kepa Arrizabalaga and PSG are also said to be monitoring their goalkeeper situation.

Henderson is a serious contender for the England number 1 jersey this summer as he battles with Jordan Henderson and Nick Pope for a place in Gareth Southgate’s starting eleven for the European Championships.
