Boubakary Soumare set to sign for Manchester United or Chelsea this month

Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare is reportedly set to sign for Manchester United or Chelsea before the January deadline.

According to Sky Sports, the 20-year-old is expected to make a decision between the two clubs after Arsenal and Valencia pulled out of the race to sign him.

It is claimed United and Chelsea have both held talks with the midfielder, and his decision on his next move is likely to be made after Lille’s clash with Paris Saint-Germain on January 26th.

Soumare is one of the most promising stars in Ligue 1 and has shone in a box-to-box midfield role this season.

He has featured in 23 games for Lille this season, including in the Champions League where he impressed against potential suitors Chelsea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs midfield reinforcements and Soumare would be an exciting addition at Old Trafford, if the club can persuade him to make the switch over a move to Chelsea.

Remarkably, Soumare could be the second midfielder United sign in January.

According to the Telegraph, the Reds have agreed terms with Bruno Fernandes ahead of his proposed transfer from Sporting Lisbon.

The deal now hinges on whether a fee can be agreed between the two clubs for the Portugal international.
