Report: Manchester United interested in signing Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare

Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare this month.

Sky Sports report that the Reds, Chelsea and Arsenal are all interested in the France u21 international, who appears likely to leave his Ligue 1 side in the January transfer window.

It is believed a path has been cleared for the youngster’s exit and his next move could be completed as soon as in the next 10 days. But Lille ideally want to hold onto their star midfielder until after January 26th when they face champions Paris Saint-Germain.

La Liga sides Real Madrid and Valencia are also thought to be tracking Soumare, who is one of the most highly rated youngsters in French football.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperately need midfield additions this month with his two best options in the area, Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba both currently out with injuries.

Soumare is a box-to-box midfielder, who at 20-years-old, is showing maturity beyond his years in Lille. He has made 23 appearances in total this season, including six in the Champions League where he has starred against Chelsea.

He certainly fits the mould of young, exciting talent that Solskjaer is looking to attract to Old Trafford. But United are also lacking experience within their side and would benefit from bringing in a more accomplished midfielder alongside the Frenchman.
