Confirmed Man Utd XI to face Newcastle: Greenwood and Pereira start

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named his starting eleven for this evening’s Boxing Day clash against Newcastle at Old Trafford.

The Reds were beaten by Steve Bruce’s side at St James’ Park in October and will be looking to make amends with victory today after the woeful defeat to Watford on Sunday.

Solskjaer has made two changes from the side that started at Vicarage Road with Mason Greenwood coming in for Daniel James on the right-flank and Andreas Pereira for Jesse Lingard in attacking midfield.

Many expected Paul Pogba to start this evening ahead of Lingard but he again starts on the substitutes bench.

Pogba’s return was the only positive from Sunday’s game against Watford with the Frenchman making a real impact from the bench.

Pereira instead starts in a midfield three alongside Fred and Scott McTominay.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof will continue their centre-back partnership, despite many calls for Lindelof to be replaced by Axel Tuanzebe for today’s game.
