Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides injury update on Man Utd midfielder Paul Pogba

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed Paul Pogba is back in training.

The Frenchman has been out of action with an ankle injury sustained in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal on September 30.

Pogba has missed 20 games for United this season, and United have lacked his creative qualities in midfield, despite a promising partnership blossoming between Fred and Scott McTominay in a midfield two.

“Paul [Pogba] is training. He’s back in with the team so we’ll see how long it takes for him to feel ready to be part of a game,” Solskjaer told MUTV.

“It’s a similar squad to what we’ve had the last few weeks.”

It’s great to hear that the midfielder has finally returned to training after a long injury layoff, but his return on the pitch does not appear imminent. Solskjaer was asked in Friday’s press conference ahead of the trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford on Sunday whether Pogba would return before the new year.

“I hope so still let’s see how he feels, I’m not gonna push him, what he feels, his ankle we need him to be 100% fit. I can’t risk any setbacks,” the United boss said, as quoted by Manchester Evening News.

So it looks like Pogba will miss another game on Sunday as he looks to recover and get back to match fitness. Let’s hope the Frenchman is fit for the Boxing Day clash against Newcastle at Old Trafford, or the away game against Burnley just two days later.
