Potential Man Utd target Kai Havertz to stay at Bayer Leverkusen – report

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz is ignoring interest from Manchester United — for now — by staying put in the Bundesliga until the end of the season, according to a report.

The 20-year-old has been linked with moves to other Premier League too, including Man City, via Daily Mail. This comes with little surprise after Havertz scored 20 goals and assisted seven others for Leverkusen last season.

An incredible return from a midfielder and Man Utd could certainly do with someone of that ilk.

This season he has scored three times in 19 appearances, with Leverkusen seventh in the Bundesliga.

Over the past few weeks Havertz-United inks have caught fire in the media, with the Express claiming the Red Devils are showing most interest in Havertz over Barcelona and Liverpool.

However, according to Sky Sports, Havertz is happy at Leverkusen and wants to see out the season with them before thinking about a move elsewhere.

In other words, the Germany international wants to focus on his football and have a fresh start elsewhere when it comes to that, rather than join a completely new team in a different country midway through the season.

Footballers settle in quicker when they’ve endured a full pre-season with their new team-mates anyway. It’s no wonder they tend to adapt slowly after transfers in January.
