Rennes put £51m price tag on Man Utd midfield target

Rennes have reportedly put a £51 million price tag on teenage sensation Eduardo Camavinga, amid links to Man Utd.

French newspaper L’Equipe (via Manchester Evening News) are now reporting how much the Ligue 1 outfit would want for his signature.

While Camavinga would be one for the future, Manchester United are looking to bolster their midfield after losing Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera this year without a replacement for either player.

You might say Fellaini didn’t need replacing but we are very light on numbers in midfield now, and I’d take the Belgian over Fred or Andreas Pereira, with the Brazilian duo performing abysmally against Sheffield United last weekend.

However, Camavinga only broke into the Rennes team this season, making 16 appearances in across all competitions, so it remains to be seen if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would sanction a deal worth north of £50m on a player with such little experience.

United already have young players with tons of potential like James Garner and Dylan Levitt coming through and  they should be dipping into the transfer market for experienced midfielders who are ready to come in and improve the starting line-up.

That might a big ask for the 17-year-old at this stage of his career.

But that said, the Daily Mail claim Barcelona are also keen on a move for Camavinga and we know the La Liga giants wouldn’t be tracking a midfield player if he wasn’t technically gifted.

Camavinga sounds like a player we should be keeping an eye out for, although Rennes are reportedly demanding crazy money for the French youngster.
