Who Man Utd scouts will be watching in the Champions League on Wednesday night – report

Man Utd will have senior scouts at Bayer Leverkusen’s Champions League group stage match against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, as per Daily Star.

The same news publication ran an exclusive on Tuesday claiming that United are plotting an £80 million raid on new German sensation Kai Havertz.

The initial report suggests that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will wait until next summer to make his move, but is ‘confident’ of signing the 20-year-old.

With that, it is understood United will have senior scouts in the BayArena tonight to watch Havertz in action against Diego Simeone’s side.

The Germany international has exceptional technical ability, uses both feet and rarely wastes possession — but it’s his end product that sets him apart.

Havertz made his debut for Leverkusen in 2016 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the brightest talents in Europe.

He scored 20 goals from midfield last season (17 in the league) to become the highest scoring teenager ever in the Bundesliga and was named runner-up to Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus for the German Footballer of the Year award.

The report adds that United are expected to triple his wages if he makes the move to the Premier League, as this signing would certainly add creativity to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield.
