The 16-year-old scored a shock equaliser against the Reds, taking the Carabao Cup tie to penalties.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side did eventually pull through, but Matheson stole all the headlines with his strike.

Matheson is clearly a very grounded individual and normal services resume tomorrow when he goes back to school to study for his A-levels.
The defender is studying History, Sociology and Psychology, and it’s back to reality today where has a Psychology test at Fallowfield school.
Just imagine scoring at the Theatre of Dreams to equalise against Manchester United at 16 years of age – what a moment for the youngster!
