Solskjaer has identical Manchester United record as Jose Mourinho before sacking

A fascinating stat has emerged comparing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester Untied reign to that of former boss Jose Mourinho.

As sourced by OptaJoe, in Solskjaer’s 27 Premier League games in charge at United, he has won 14, drawn 6 and lost 7.

This is exactly the same record that meant Jose Mourinho lost the hot seat at Old Trafford last December.

Mourinho’s run of games, however, had a very different feeling to them and there was a toxic atmosphere before the Portuguese manager’s spell ended at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has not yet been afforded two years to examine whether any real progress has been made as Mourinho was.

The humiliating defeat to Liverpool made Mourinho’s position at the club untenable.

Whilst there is pressure on Solskjaer to pick up results quickly at United, there has to be patience given the size of the rebuilding project.

The Norwegian needs several more transfer windows to sign the players that will make his mark on the club.
