Manchester United greats Edwin van der Sar and Robin Van Persie have been joking about the miserable Manchester weather ahead of tonight’s testimonial for Vincent Kompany.
Kompany left City this summer to assume a player/manager role at Anderlecht, but makes a welcome return to the Etihad Stadium tonight where he will be part of a legends team facing a Premier League All Star XI.
The Belgian defender is one of the most likeable players in football, and deserves his night of celebration after his spell at Manchester where he did a lot of charity work for homelessness.
Van der sar, who has been recently linked with taking up the role of director of football at Old Trafford, joked that he will need some extra protection to brave the elements in Manchester.
It will be great to see the Dutchman back between the sticks, alongside eight other United greats who will feature for the All Star side.

So that means I need to pack a raincoat and my studs for the game tonight?

Van Persie will play in attack alongside Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, returning to the ground he scored the famous last-minute free kick on the way to United’s twentieth league title.
