Manchester United have held discussions with Angel Gomes over a new contract.

But according to the Athletic journalist Laurie Whitwell, talks are underway to extend the academy graduate’s time at the club.

Gomes is one of the most promising talents to come out of the academy so it’s crucial the the club can secure his long-term future.
The youngster is yet to feature under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Premier League this season, and some fans are becoming impatient in wanting to see him in action for the first-team.
Jesse Lingard has made another underwhelming start to the campaign, and the question surely has to be asked as to whether Gomes could be more effective in the attacking midfield role.
Solskjaer is lacking a creative spark through the middle, which should have been addressed in the summer transfer window but now could be the perfect time to give Gomes his warranted opportunity.
Gomes is in action tonight for England u20’s in the Elite League against the Netherlands.
