‘Joke’, ‘desperation’: Loads of Man Utd fans react to Fernando Llorente transfer rumours

Manchester United have again been linked with former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente, and it’s provided some mixed reactions from Reds on social media.

Llorente, 34, is now a free agent after being released by Spurs this summer, and United are now reportedly interested in signing him as a back up to Marcus Rashford.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by Sport Witness, the Reds have offered the Spaniard a two-year deal at Old Trafford.

The report claims that United’s move for Llorente is partly why the proposed transfer of Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan has been delayed.

However, it is believed Sanchez will leave United this summer, regardless of whether an attacking replacement was signed.

Ideally, an attacking signing should have been prioritised when it was known goalscorer Romelu Lukaku would be leaving the club this summer.

Instead, the reported for move for Llorente in the free agent market just smells of desperation, and a last resort for Solskjaer who is light in attacking options.

At 34-years-old, Llorente would only be a short-term solution, and hardly fits Solskjaer’s fluid style of attacking football.
