Report: Man Utd defender targeted by Fenerbahce in loan deal

Reports in Turkey claim Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is a loan target for Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Turkish newspaper Posta, as cited by Sport Witness, claim Fenerbahce want to sign the Argentine because of the versatility he offers across the defensive line.

The 29-year-old can play at both left-back and centre-back, which makes him an interesting proposition for the Turkish giants.

Rojo now looks surplus to requirements at Old Trafford following the summer arrival of Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

The Argentine international now looks to be behind the 26-year-old, Axel Tuanzebe, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in the defensive pecking order.

According to the Daily Mail, Rojo had hoped he would join Everton after Marco Silva’s side made their move on deadline day.

The report claims the defender was left fuming after a deal was not completed because United wanted a permanent move rather than a loan switch which was preferred by the Merseyside club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping he can sell Rojo before the European window shuts on September 2, preferably on a permanent deal to cash in on the player who no longer seems to have a future at Old Trafford.
