Reason for key Man Utd star’s unexpected absence against AC Milan revealed

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is missing today’s pre-season friendly through injury.

There had been suggestions this afternoon that Pogba’s absence could be linked to the Frenchman wanting out of the club.

Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez Haya even claimed that Pogba has not travelled with the squad as he is unhappy at Old Trafford and wants to force a move to Real Madrid to join up with compatriot Zinedine Zidane.

However, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed on Friday that the World Cup winner is dealing with an injury problem.

“At the end of the session today, Paul got a back spasm, the same issue he had last week when he missed the session in Norway. But I think he’ll be available early next week,” Solskjaer told United’s official app as quoted by Manchester Evening News

Pogba is staying in Manchester along with Alexis Sanchez, who is also recovering from an injury, picked up during the Copa America this summer.

United’s game against AC Milan is Solskjaer’s squad’s last chance to impress ahead of next Sunday’s opening Premier League clash against Chelsea.
