Joel Glazer considers one Man Utd star as Old Trafford’s Pele

Joel Glazer apparently believes Anthony Martial is Manchester United’s version of the great Pele.

Fans were hopeful of a squad overhaul this summer after a terrible season, finishing sixth in the Premier League and missing out on Champions League qualification, but penny-pinching from the Glazers continues.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave the impression that he believed certain players were stealing a living at Old Trafford, but no players have left the club this summer and the transfer deadline is near.

However, the Evening Standard claims United chief Joel Glazer believed Martial is the real deal and would privately admit to seeing him as Old Trafford’s Pele.

The only thing I can think of when reading about this is an attempt to fill people’s head with false hope before the new season kicks off, when the Glazers leave another manager short at the end of a transfer window.

Sure, with the second coming of Pele why would United need to sign players? A man who knows nothing about football said so…

Martial has underperformed for the best part of two years. He got a new deal last season on the basis of potential and the unbelievable form he showed in his debut campaign under Louis van Gaal, but it’s time for him to kick on now and make Old Trafford his fortress.

There’s a brilliant player in the France international, but any comparisons with footballing greats such as Pele should be laughed off. Not taken seriously.

In other news, Joel’s sister Darcie has took more money out of the club, as per The Sun#GlazersOut
