Report: Portuguese star pulled out of pre-season friendly ahead of possible Man Utd move

Manchester United target Bruno Fernandes has reportedly been pulled out of a Sporting Lisbon pre-season friendly in order to avoid injury.

Portuguese outlet Correio da Manhã,  as translated by Sport Witness, claim Sporting manager Marcel Keizer is handling the 24-year-old carefully in case he gets injured.

The report claims that Paul Pogba could move to Real Madrid ‘at any time’ which would mean Fernandes is lined up as a replacement for the Frenchman.

If these reports are to believed and Sporting are holding their star man back ahead of a potential sale, then this is hugely encouraging news for United fans.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs creativity in midfield and Fernandes looks the perfect option. The midfielder scored 32 times in 50 appearances for Sporting last season, and recently helped Portugal lift the inaugural Nations League title.

The Reds have been linked with a move Fernandes all summer, along with Liverpool and Tottenham.

Sky Sports reported earlier that Sporting will hold out for at least £50m for the 24-year-old. Lets hope United can get a deal wrapped up for the player as soon as possible, no matter what the price with the squad still needing significant investment with just a month of the transfer window to go.
