Sporting Lisbon name price for Bruno Fernandes; Solskjaer wants to sign Portuguese star

Sporting Lisbon are reportedly set to demand over £50m for star player Bruno Fernandes this summer.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim the Reds are interested in signing the attacking midfielder.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Fernandes to boost his options in midfield, with the club also heavily linked to Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff.

Sky Sports’ report states that Fernandes’ agent has travelled to the UK to negotiate a transfer of the 24-year-old Portuguese international.

Fernandes signed a contract Sporting last summer that included a £31m release clause, which if met and not sold Fernandes will be due a £4.5m windfall from the Portuguese side.

The Sporting playmaker is exactly what Solskjaer needs in midfield to add an extra creative dimension. Fernandes scored 32 goals in 50 appearances last season and would almost certainly provide goals to United’s midfield.

This is a signing the Reds really should be pulling off this summer to help solve issues in front of goal. Fernandes would be an excellent third addition following the arrivals of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
