‘Replacement for Mata’: Number of MUFC fans react to James Maddison transfer claims

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with the representatives of Leicester City playmaker James Maddison, according to reports.

The story originated from the Daily Record by Duncan Castles, who also claims that United have been quoted €35m for Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The Reds seek a squad rebuild under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with life made that bit more difficult not having Champions League football to look forward to next season.

Maddison had a good debut campaign for Leicester after joining the club from Norwich City. He scored seven times and recorded the same amount of assists. There are enough talent and potential in him to build on that, making the starlet currently playing under Brendan Rodgers an exciting prospect signing.

The report adds that the Foxes value Maddison at around £60m and that the player himself will seek assurances about the amount of playing time he can expect under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, one would think with the number of players United are trying to get rid of this season Maddison might even be considered a starter at Old Trafford next season. He’s an exciting young homegrown player — and that’s apparently what Solskjaer wants to build his team around.

The one part about the report which has me questioning Maddion is his apparent reservations about Champions League football. He plays for f*cking Leicester City. If that’s true, he needs to come down of his high horse.

This is the transfer that will evaluate him properly as a footballer. That big step up.
