Manchester United impose transfer restriction with strange new rule

Manchester United have reportedly decided they will no longer be signing players over the age of 28.

This surprise development comes from a report in the Daily Mirror which focuses on the potential departure of Juan Mata to Arsenal.

However, also buried in the piece is this supposed new transfer strategy, which seems an intriguing choice and perhaps a risky one.

While we could undoubtedly do with keeping this squad fresh and having players for the long term – something Jose Mourinho took too far in the other direction – it would also be a shame to miss out on some world class players who should still have plenty to offer even in their late 20s and early 30s.

Plus, even if we only had Zlatan Ibrahimovic for one season, what a season that was!
