Manchester United need a reliable centre-back and there is no guarantee we’ll get one in January.
The club will undoubtedly be linked with every in-form defender across the world between now and the end of the winter transfer window, but Jose Mourinho should be keeping tabs on what players are impressing to make sure his next signings are suitable and fit right in.

Now, we must stress that there are no guarantees that United will buy any players at the halfway point of this campaign, but reinforcements are certainly needed at the back.
Victor Lindelof looks to be improving alongside Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw is finally making the left-back role his own, though United still conceded 18 goals in 11 Premier League matches.
A player United should be looking to sign is Milan Skriniar, who put in another stellar performance for Inter last night in the UEFA Champions League.
In a story published this week by ESPN’s Mark Ogden, it was stated that Skriniar is regarded by United as a player that could be signed in January.
The player was quizzed last month about leaving Inter but said he is not thinking about speculation, as per The Express. It was also suggested by Calciomercato that Skriniar is one of Jose Mourinho’s top targets, with talkSPORT citing those reports.
His performance against Barcelona on Tuesday night was monster like — rated 7/10 by 90min — and we’ve got our hands on highlights, as seen below.
The clash between the European giants ended 1-1 with both goals scored in the final 10 minutes. Malcom opened the scoring for Barça before Mauro Icardi equalised for the Italians.
Here’s what fellow Reds had to say about Skriniar following last night’s performance:
If #MUFC want a new centre-back they should go after Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar. I covered Inter v Barca last night and he was sensational. Forget Maguire at £60m. Bid £80m for Skriniar before he signs a new deal at the San Siro. He’s going to be utterly world class.

#Napoli value Koulibaly at 100 million euros and with #Skriniar likely to sign a new deal at #InterMilan, clubs like #MUFC would have to shell out more than 200 million pounds to get both of them.

Even if it takes splashing more than 100 million in January, Manchester United get Milan #skriniar. He has been absolutely dominant against Barcelona. Aggressive, strong, calm, fantastic in the air and above all, brilliant with the ball at his feet. Jose, get this lad.🙏 #MUFC

Skriniar has to be United’s top target for CB. What a player he is, and will only become better. He’s going to be expensive, but it’s gonna be worth it #MUFC
