Fab Four Targets: Mourinho to push Man Utd towards spending big in January

According to the Daily Mail, Jose Mourinho has identified four targets for the January transfer window but faces a fight to persuade the Manchester United board to stump up the cash.

It will be intriguing to see what response the board will give Mourinho since vice executive-chairman Ed Woodward refused to support the manager in the summer.

The report states Mourinho wants Serbian duo Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Nikola Milenkovic along with Croatian pair Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic, who he had targeted previously.

It has been said repeatedly that Mourinho is a keen admirer of both Perisic and Rebic, with their ability to bully defenders, but achieving such a feat would depend on the club opening its purse strings to push through any deal.

Another concern is adding reinforcements in defence and Fiorentina defender Milenkovic may well be the answer. His fellow countryman Milinkovic-Savic is also believed to be high on Mourinho’s list to turn United’s season around after a difficult start.

The boss watched Serbia’s win over Montenegro in the UEFA Nations League last Thursday, while only Milenkovic started with Milinkovic-Savic came off the bench with over 10 minutes left on the clock.

As cited by the Daily Mail, Mourinho wants a nasty, commanding centre-back who can bring the ball out of defence, and believes Milenkovic could fit that description.
