25-year-old Man Utd star in line for new and improved contract in 2019

According to The Metro, Manchester United will initiate talks with Jesse Lingard over a new deal in the coming weeks as part of an agreement with the midfielder.

The 25-year-old signed a new four-year deal with the club in 2017, boosting his pay to around £100,000-a-week at Old Trafford.

Lingard was a bit-part player at the time and Jose Mourinho’s decision to hand him such a lucrative deal raised eyebrows among supporters, though he’s since become a much more important player and it has paid off.

He scored 13 goals in 48 appearances for the Reds and is now considered a first-team regular under Mourinho.

The Metro also claims United will renew Lingard’s contract later this year with the view to the midfielder signing new terms with the club on a boosted salary in 2019.

Lingard loves United and gets plenty of game time, so we can’t see there being any problems getting the renewal done.

Meanwhile, the Reds have allowed the likes of Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Luke Shaw to enter the final 12 months of their contracts at Old Trafford.
