Former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe has made a damning statement on club manager Jose Mourinho, claiming he will be gone by Christmas.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss is under severe pressure to deliver this season, particularly after finishing 19 points adrift of rivals Manchester City last season and the disappointing summer transfer window we’ve just witnessed.
United made only one major signing in Fred while also adding depth to the squad in Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant.
Our pre-season was underwhelming, to say the least, while Sunday’s shock loss to Brighton & Hove Albion has left Sharpe to conclude he’ll be sacked soon.
According to MEN, Sharpe said to Press Association Sport: “He is the wrong man for the job. When he came to Chelsea the first time he was quite charming and fun, but now he just seems dour and fed up.
“The football’s not entertaining and what makes it twice as bad is that their two biggest rivals, Man City and Liverpool, do play exciting football.
“His negative style does not fit in with the expansive football that United fans want. I think he’ll be gone before Christmas.”
With Mourinho having entered his third season at the club, the Reds are yet to play with any real identity. For instance, it would be a bit rich to call United an ultimately defensive outfit given how poor we are when it comes to defending.
Fans have grown increasingly frustrated and confused as to whether they can blame for the current situation at Old Trafford.
