Man Utd knock back approach made for Anthony Martial

Manchester United have knocked back an enquiry from Tottenham for attacker Anthony Martial.

Martial’s agent revealed earlier this month that the Frenchman was looking to move away from Old Trafford, as he has seen his playing time diminish since the January arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.

The Reds are reluctant to sell Martial on the cheap though. Manchester Evening News state that the club has quoted ‘silly prices’ for the 22-year-old.

He joined United in 2015 in a move worth an initial £36 million. That figure increased to £44.4 million after he scored his 25thgoal for the club against Burnley and several incentives will see AS Monaco earn a total of £56 million for the player.

United’s response could be seen as expected with Spurs knocking back an approach by United to sign centre-back Toby Alderweirled in May. The Reds wanted to conclude a deal for £55 million, only for Daniel Levy to hold out for a significantly higher figure.

However, Martial has just one year left on his current contract and with United keeping tabs on Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale, Mourinho very much holds the key.
