Defender aged 25 values move to Premier League, amid reports of Man Utd interest

It sounds as though Manchester United will be busy this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to mount a title challenge and push for progress in the Champions League.

Michael Carrick is set to be handed his final Premier League appearance when we host Watford in the final game of the season, on Sunday. The 36-year-old is set to retire and turn his attention to coaching. Marouane Fellaini is running down his contract and should he leave, Mourinho ought to bring in at least two central midfielders.

On top of that, the Reds need some defensive reinforcements. Sources close to Stretty News claim Mourinho is not confidence with what he has and is looking to bolster that department this summer.

Reports in Spain are linking United strongly with a move for Barcelona centre back Samuel Umtiti, but now Don Balon claim we are ready to offer €70 million (£61m) for Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.

The 25-year-old was originally brought to the Santiago Bernabeu by Mourinho, so this would provide an opportunity to reunite with the Portuguese tactician. This season, Varane has made 25 La Liga appearances and a further 10 in the Champions League.

With the final not too far away, Varane is likely to get more football under his belt before flying to Russia with the France team in hope of World Cup glory.

Don Balon also suggest that the defender values the idea of moving to the Premier League, mentioning Mourinho as a key factor.

Whether Los Blancos would sell would of their best players remains to be seen.
