Antonio Conte asked about speculation linking Chelsea with Anthony Martial

It doesn’t matter who Chelsea sign this summer as far as Antonio Conte is concerned. Popular football writer Duncan Castles claims the Italian plans to take a sabbatical from management once Chelsea sack him, as per Yahoo Sport, and to make Roman Abramovich pay millions for it.

If Conte is about to get the sack, which, we can all agree is likely at this point despite reaching the FA Cup Final 12 months after winning the Premier League, why would he care about Chelsea’s incomings and outgoings?

Everyone knows the manager of Chelsea doesn’t have much dealing with that side of things anyway.

Still, the journalists wanted to hear what Conte had to say about recent speculation linking Chelsea with Martial.

The French striker is bound to attract interest from all over Europe and from the biggest of clubs, but Conte remained tight-lipped on the club’s rumoured pursuit of the 22-year-old.

When asked to comment on Chelsea’s links with Martial, Conte replied: “Our focus is to finish this season in the best possible way.”

A rather stupid question to ask in the first place. It’s not as if Conte was going to dish out a fully detailed scouting report and tell the world how much money Chelsea plan to spend on fixing their striking department after wasting a lot of money on former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata last summer.
