Neymar contemplates Old Trafford switch to challenge the Premier League

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar is reportedly keen to play in the Premier League before one day joining La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Obviously, foreign outlets are going to jump on that and link Neymar with the biggest football club England has to offer. Manchester United.

According to Don Balon, Neymar wants a new challenge from the low competitiveness of France’s Ligue 1, so a move to United looks more likely than one to Madrid for the time being.

Except it doesn’t and nobody at United has given this story an inch of creditability.

The same report claims Madrid president Florentino Perez is concerned about the effect Neymar’s arrival could have on the dressing room, but funnily enough that was never a concern when signing players with gigantic egos in years gone-by.

Los Blancos signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Kaka during the same summer in 2009!

The Spanish outlet adds that United are ready to pay big for Neymar. Again, if they’re serious about signing the Brazilian, which they’re not because there’s been no contact, this line goes without saying. Ed Woodward is hardly going to rock into the board room, throw a few million quid on the table and expect to get one of the world’s best players.

If only it was that easy.

Neymar to United won’t be happening this summer. I’m sorry to spoil your evening.
