Manchester United prioritise 27-year-old among transfer targets

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have prioritised signing left-back Alex Sandro to replace the out-of-favour Luke Shaw next season.

The same report states that United’s interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender and England international Danny Rose has “cooled” and Jose Mourinho is prepared to let Celtic youngster Kieran Tierney move to another Premier League should one come in for the Scot.

Tierney has never showed signs of wanting to leave Celtic Park and sources close to the player have previously explained to Stretty News how the 20-year-old one day wants to become Celtic first-team captain.

Bournemouth are the latest Premier League club to show interest in Tierney, as per The Sun, but it is our understanding that it will take a lot of convincing to draw him away from his boyhood club.

That brings us on to some departures from Old Trafford. ESPN had it on good authority this week that both Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind would be sold this summer as Mourinho looks to push on any deadwood in his squad.

Sandro of Juventus fits the bill as a quality full-back as Mourinho looks to shift Young, who by trade is a winger, out of the role for next season. Should United sign the Brazilian they will be getting a top class player with experience reaching the latter stages of the Champions League.

“Football heritage,” as Mourinho would say.
