Report: Van Persie and agent uncertain about future

According to The Sun, Robin van Persie has held crisis talks with his agent as the 31-year-old’s contract at Manchester United enters its final year.

The Dutchman has struggled with injuries this season and has therefore not reached previous goalscoring heights.

It remains to be seen whether Louis van Gaal will want to keep the striker next season with no talk whatsoever of a contract extension.

The report in question suggests van Persie met with his agent Kees Vos on Thursday and the pair discussed the striker’s potential options.

Potential offers from Galatasaray and AS Roma may persuade van Persie to leave but it is also believed that he is desperate to stay at Old Trafford.

When asked by the press whether Robin had a future at United, van Gaal didn’t give much away.

“You’ll have to wait and see.”

Life at Manchester United has been a struggle for van Persie ever since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. It was believed by many that the arrival of van Gaal would set his career alight again. That, sadly, has not been the case.

Does Robin van Persie deserve a contract extension?
