COMPETITION: Manchester United slate coasters for Christmas

Christmas is just six weeks away and most of our readers are probably wondering what to buy family and friends as a gift. Thanks to Points And Pints, SN have three sets of Manchester United slate coasters to give away. They will fit perfectly in your stocking!

What do these slate coasters consist of? Well, they show key player and ball movements from memorable fixtures down the years. The games chosen are:

    • 1968 European Cup Final vs Benfica: United win the European Cup 10 years after the Munich disaster
    • 1977 FA Cup Final vs Liverpool: United deny Liverpool the Treble
    • 1992-1993 Premier League vs Sheffield Wednesday: Take the lead in the table for the first league triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson.
    • 1999 FA Cup Semi-Final vs Arsenal: Ryan Gigg’s zig-zagging run to clinch the Double and set United up for a Treble.

Austin, the creator of these terrific slate coasters, wanted to make something unique for his brother’s 30th birthday. He picked four of Manchester United’s greatest goals — from Best in ’68 to Giggs in ’99 — and diagrammed the plays from video replays. Austin then etched the plays into slate coasters and gave the set to his brother at a bar during a United match, where other fans started asking where they could also get a set. After tuning up productions and materials sourcing, Austin created PointsAndPints.com.

To enter the competition, you must be follow @StrettyNews and @PointsAndPints on Twitter before answering the following question correctly: Who was the first Manchester United player to be sent off in an FA Cup Final? Send your answer to sncompetition@gmail.com.

SN will pick three winners on 20th November. If you don’t win but still want a set, you can get 20% off using the STRETTYNEWS20 discount code. That will expire on New Year’s Day, 2014.
