The fat one hits back at Ferguson

Former Brazil striker Ronaldo was delighted to see his former club Real Madrid eliminate Manchester United from the Champions League on Tuesday night. He has hit back at Sir Alex Ferguson, who refereed to his weight in the build-up to the game.

During Monday’s press conference Ferguson was asked to compare the Brazilian Ronaldo [Luis Nazario de Lima] with the Portuguese one. The boss replied that Cristiano was a better player than the “fat, old” Ronaldo, who scored a hat-trick for Madrid against United Old Trafford in 2003.

Cristiano Ronaldo admitted that his performance was affected coming up against his former club. Unfortunately that didn’t stop him scoring Madrid’s equalizer in the first leg and winner in the second.

The fat one, aged 36, hung up his boots in 2011 after a period riddled with injuries and difficulties fighting his weight. However it has been reported that he lost over 37 pounds since featuring in a reality show on Brazilian TV last year, and is currently working as a representative in preparation for the 2014 World Cup.

Attending an event at half-built World Cup venue Arena Pernambuco, Ronaldo spoke out about the remarks from Ferguson. He described them as disrespectful.

“Real Madrid shut his mouth for me,” Ronaldo said. “It was a lack of respect. A professional of his age, an English Sir, should not be so disrespectful. It was not classy. I have no words for this gentleman, except that I hope the team he manages always loses.”
