Sir Alex Ferguson’s treble dream is still alive with Manchester United qualifying for the quarter-finals after knocking Reading out in a 2-1 win at Old Trafford. The draw took place yesterday with the Reds facing the winners of Middlesborough vs Chelsea.
When Phil Jones picked up an ankle injury before half time he was immediately replaced by Nani. This saw Antonio Valencia fill in at right back, resulting in United being a stronger force going forward for the second half. Before the interval Nani had two chances to open the scoring. He looked fresh and set to prove critics wrong. In the second half he didn’t only score the opener, but he assisted a header from Hernandez also.
