End it like Becks: LA Galaxy win MLS Cup

Former Manchester United winger David Beckham has said goodbye to his days wearing an LA Galaxy shirt by winning the MLS Cup in a 2-1 win over Houston.

Before Beckham left United in 2003, he won the Premier League. The same can be said about his last year at Real Madrid and now LA Galaxy in terms of domestic titles.

There was a lot made of Beckham’s exit from Old Trafford and today he’s a character people either love or begrudge. Even though he was one of few icons in my youth, I was never a fan of the circus surrounding him. Saying that, we were all coming to terms with modern football but it’s still annoying to this day.

In the coming weeks the media will be reporting on his next move, whenever that may be. However, Beckham is not a player I would bring back to United.

In 2010 he said: “I’d have loved to have stayed at Manchester United for my whole career and never gone anywhere else,” which is contradictory to what he said 7 years before that: “I’ve never said that I’d never move away from Manchester, and I’ve never said that I’d end my career there.”

Either way, I’m thrilled for Becks. He has achieved a lot in his career since progressing from our class of ’92.
