Dalglish continues to stir controversy around Suarez ahead of Old Trafford clash

Kenny Dalglish has somehow added fuel to the embers that are the Luis Suarez & Patrice Evra race row.

The Liverpool boss spoke bitterly after last night’s 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, despite claiming he was proud of the way his players performed. He re-affirmed his stance that Luis Suarez shouldn’t have been punished after being found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra during a Premier League encounter at Anfield in October.

“We don’t think he should ever have been away but we are delighted to get him back,” Dalglish said. “For me, Luis Suarez doesn’t have anything to prove to anyone at Liverpool FC.”

However, Liverpool travel to Old Trafford this weekend when Luis Suarez is expected to make his first start since picking up that 8 match ban for his actions. And with the timing of these comments, I can’t help but to question Daglish’s intelligence or awareness.

Before the FA Cup 4th round clash at Anfield, a few weeks ago, the Scot asked for the players and supporters to act in a ‘responsible’ manner. Yet after the game he responded to the boos Evra got for 90 minutes as “friendly banter,” when the French left back got all the abuse simply because of the way Suarez treated him. I guess that’s not surprising judging by the way he has acted throughout the FA’s investigation on the matter.

All this shit stirring is contributing to what will be a scorching atmosphere at Old Trafford, but I’ve no doubt that he will keep it up. And the Liverpool supporters will probably continue to laugh it off with their immature Suarez masks and t-shirts, but how would Bill Shankly react to the recent events? I doubt he’d be impressed.

  1. Dalglish will stop the comments when journos stop asking about it!!!! Even on the news etc – it’s not Louis Suarez back from suspension, but back from suspension after racially abusing PE which he still denies – it was not racially motivated.
