Argentina teammates send supportive messages to Lisandro Martinez

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a metatarsal injury this week.

Following the surgery, The Butcher shared a picture from his hospital bed, telling fans that the operation had been a success.

It is a huge blow for United to be without Martinez for the upcoming games now we’ve reached the business end to the season.

The World Cup winner has arguably been United’s best defender and he is without question one of our best performers this season.

While Martinez has already received support from his United teammates after the injury he sustained last week in the 2-2 draw against Sevilla, he has now got messages from Argentina colleagues Angel Di Maria, Paulo Dybala and Cristian Romero.

All three Argentina internationals reached out to Licha via Instagram, as pictured below.

There is no reason to rush Martinez back since we’ve already accepted that he will miss the remainder of the season. It’s important that he gets the recovery he needs to hit the ground running in the summer for pre-season.

The full itinerary of United’s pre-season tour in the United States has yet to be announced, but the Reds will face Wrexham and Borussia Dortmund as they prepare for the 2023/24 campaign.
