Maguire and Casemiro return: Predicted Manchester United starting line-up to face Chelsea

Our predicted Manchester United line-up to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this evening.

Fans will be hoping for a drastic improvement on last Saturday’s woeful performance, which saw the Red Devils utterly dominated by relegation-threatened Brentford and lucky to take a point from the Gtech Stadium.

Erik ten Hag has been dealt two significant injury blows this week in the form of Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez, with both expected to be sidelined for at least a month. The Argentine has endured torrid luck on the fitness front this campaign and had only just come back from a two-month layoff against the Bees. He’s now on his third setback in 12 months after sustaining a calf strain in training.

Raphael Varane was substituted early after appearing to pick up an issue, although the manager has confirmed that he has trained as usual and, therefore, should be fit enough to feature. Jonny Evans is also likely to make his return to the squad but may be benched in favour of Harry Maguire.

Casemiro made a brief 10-minute cameo off the bench in West London so will presumably partner Kobbie Mainoo in the middle of the park.

Predicted United starting XI

Onana, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Dalot, Casemiro, Mainoo, Garnacho, Fernandes (C), Rashford, Hojlund.

  1. I’m looking forward to the victory tonight which ETH has predicted. He’s claimed too many matches means that players can’t sustain performances, citing Citeh beating us 3-1 and drawing 0-0 in their next match. They followed that by winning 4-1 last night.
So: our good match 4-3 in FA Cup having been followed by appalling garbage against Brentford means
    a) we’ll beat Chelsea tonight, or
    b) ETH still producing excuses instead of a decent team.
    We shall see.
