Kai Havertz makes decision on future and wants to follow in idol’s footsteps

Manchester United target Kai Havertz has reportedly made a decision on where he wants to play football after he leaves current club Bayer Leverkusen.

Havertz, 21, has been catching the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including the likes of newly crowned German Champions Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

The Express recently listed him as a target for the Red Devils.

However, German outlet SportBuzzer claim that the young attacker wants to follow in idol Toni Kroos’ footsteps and join Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The German publication are also reporting that Real Madrid have already lodged a formal bid for the talented youngster, however, the undisclosed fee is thought to be well below Bayer Leverkusen’s valuation of their star man.

It is believed the Bundesliga side will not be willing to accept an offer for less than £90m and are happy to play hard-ball with Havertz under contract until 2022.

During a recent interview with Infobae, Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro said: “Kai has been with us for ten years, he is a player who is fully integrated and devoted to the club, but he wants to take a big step.

“All the great clubs in Europe are after him and for us, in the end, what the player wants is what is important.”
