Gareth Southgate unimpressed by Jadon Sancho’s timekeeping

Jadon Sancho was not included in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

It didn’t come as a surprise to anyone because his form has been uninspiring so far this season. On top of that, Manchester United fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with his form since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

The rise of Alejandro Garnacho comes at a bad time because – purely based on form – the youngster deserves a place in the team. For Sancho’s sake, I really hope he comes back in late December and hits the ground running.

However, it has been reported by The Telegraph that Sancho has been left out of the World Cup squad because of issues with his ‘timekeeping’.

Apparently Sancho turned up late for a team meeting ahead of a win over Andorra in October last year. Southgate refuses to start team meetings until every player is in the room, so the rest of the group were made wait for the United winger.

The bottom line is Sancho won’t be going to Qatar due to his form. He doesn’t deserve a place in the England squad and needs to do something about that between now and the end of the season.

Hopefully Sancho get back to his best in a United shirt.
