Toby Collyer is one Manchester United player whose future is up in the air this month.

Back in the summer and after garnering interest from a host of clubs, the midfielder decided to join West Brom on loan to gain some invaluable first-team experience throughout the 2025/2026 term.

He proceeded to make 12 appearances for the Championship outfit, only three of which were from the off under Ryan Mason.

Then, towards the end of November, he sustained a serious calf injury while in action for the Baggies against Swansea City.

Collyer’s layoff was deemed so significant that he returned to Carrington to undergo his recovery, and at the start of the month, he was officially recalled by United, terminating his loan agreement with West Brom prematurely.

Now that the 22-year-old is on the mend and nearing match fitness, he has become a firm option for Hull City in the event United choose to facilitate another half-season loan for their academy graduate.

Head Coach Sergej Jakirovic confirmed his desire to add Collyer to his ranks before the February 2 deadline, saying (via BBC Sport): “If there is an option, I would like to take him.”

Would Collyer rather stay with United until the summer?

However, on his Instagram account last night, the youngster shared a snap of himself signing a United shirt for a fan during the club’s pre-season tour, perhaps suggesting he would favour staying put at Old Trafford and vying for a role in the senior team.

Collyer first made his debut in the 2024 Community Shield final and has since racked up another 12 appearances across all competitions.

The fact that United failed to qualify for Europe last campaign meant game time would be hard to come by for any fringe players this season, hence the club opting for him to leave as opposed to him spending months watching on from the sidelines.

  1. Like l had always said, man UTD major problems apartment from Amourim, is Raccliffe and INEOS. They are breaveaved of ideas. They are very slow to act, and yet their actions were always faulty and fluctuated. They are at the moment moving around the circles for amourim replacement, showing that they have no future plans in the midst of Amourim’s worfulness.
Like the era of Ten Hag, only God know how it will take them to replace Amourim either temporarily or pamanently.
Raccliffe, and the rest of his board members are mostly responsible for man utd woes.
The earlier they act promptly, or are gone
    The better for man utd.
