After Onana and Malacia: Man United want to sanction third deadline-day outgoing to Turkey

Manchester United have already bid farewell to Andre Onana ahead of his season-long loan move to Trabzonspor, and could yet do the same for two more players.

After concluding his international commitments with Cameroon on Wednesday, Onana flew to Turkey yesterday to undergo his medical.

The arrival of Senne Lammens at Old Trafford would’ve seen the 29-year-old drop to third place in Ruben Amorim’s goalkeeping rankings – behind the new signing and Altay Bayindir but above veteran Tom Heaton.

Could Tyrell Malacia follow Onana to the Turkish Super Lig?

Alas, Onana was informed that he could pursue a late summer departure elsewhere and, eventually, approved Trabzonspor’s approach.

Tyrell Malacia is the last remaining player of Amorim’s ‘bomb squad’ at Carrington, having failed to garner significant interest since his loan with PSV Eindhoven came to an end in June.

He was on the verge of joining Elche in a temporary transfer before the European transfer deadline last Monday until talks collapsed when an agreement couldn’t be reached over a potential buy clause/obligation.

He has since received an offer to spend 2025/2026 with Turkish outfit Eyupspor, which United are willing to facilitate. However, it’s thought Malacia is reluctant to make the switch.

United youngster also likely to be offloaded

Along with the two out-of-favour first-team Reds, youngster Sam Mather has attracted suitors in Turkey, Germany, and Sweden, according to Manchester Evening News.

MEN’s report states the club had initially planned to sanction the 21-year-old’s exit on a permanent basis, but would now be willing to negotiate a loan plus an obligation to buy. Mather has yet to make his senior debut for United.

Greece’s window is also open until later this evening, whilst Serbia’s is until September 17.

  1. Its disheartening to see Malacia potentially leaving, especially after his loan at PSV. United seems to be rotating players out quickly, which raises questions about their long-term plans for the squad.N-Golf

    1. Malacia is simply not good enough for premier league, we are well stocked with defenders. He needs to move on.
Sancho needed to go along with Rashford. Neither were applying themselves and performing for quite some time.
Garnacho, shame in many ways, but obviously his attitude was an issue, and he didn’t suit Amorim’s system.
As for Hojlund, time will tell , he needed experienced help at United, didn’t happen for him , I wish him well for the future.
