In an attempt to bypass Manchester United’s cash demands for Alejandro Garnacho, Chelsea have offered one of their players in exchange.

According to the Daily Mail, Tyrique George, hailed as a ‘fantastic’ talent by manager Enzo Maresca, was utilised in a proposed swap deal by the Blues as they look to finalise Garnacho’s arrival before Monday’s deadline.

United rejected the offer, making it clear they want £50 million to sanction the exit of their academy graduate, whose sale would generate pure profit and provide a much-needed PSR boost.

Yet, with Chelsea valuing the Argentine at a measly £25m, United are holding out until their valuation is met. If it isn’t, Garnacho is likely to spend the first half of the campaign in the reserves, waiting for the window to reopen in January.

When taking into account the other transfers that have taken place for wingers this summer, United simply have to stand firm.

At just 21 years old, Garnacho has accumulated 144 senior appearances for the 20-time champions, scoring 26 goals and assisting a further 22. He has won both the League Cup and FA Cup, playing a direct role in the latter by scoring in the final, as well as the Copa America with world champions Argentina, for whom he’s earned eight caps.

Garnacho’s exit highlights a wider issue arising at Old Trafford

Perhaps in an ideal world, things wouldn’t have panned out the way they have and Garnacho would’ve continued at Old Trafford long-term.

Developing young prospects and turning them into trusted first-teamers is a feat United have prided themselves on throughout the side’s illustrious history, so the fact that Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo could well follow the likes of Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford out the door is an area of concern for the M16 faithful.

  1. Amorim has come to destroy man united. He is selling good players and leaving the worst. How can you sell Garnacho and maino? His style of play doesn’t favor the players and if he doesn’t change the style he will not reach December when he is not sacked. It is we the fans who are suffering. We even fear to go and watch our games.

    1. Agree , Ruben is our worst coach ever. Please fire him qnd hire sougate. He really believes in our yough. Ruben is on his way to let every youngster go and we are going stay in the basement

  2. I don’t think he’s “come to destroy man united”, but I don’t like the idea of selling Mainoo. All successful teams need a settled dressing room. They don’t have to all like each other, but they need to be pulling in the same direction. The manager has identified a number of players who were trying to satisfy their own agendas and I wholeheartedly support him in getting rid.

  3. Amorim is destroying dna of man utd he doesn’t have trust towards young player, he wants to field old mediocre players who will nothing for the team.

  4. The young players of today have no respect for managers or their clubs, nacho will end up like Paul Pogba without the silverware and mainoo even though I like him he is not the player he’s been made out to be he’s average.

  5. Amorim, we got faith in you. Do your way unlimitedly whatsoever. Change has never come easy.

  6. Amorim should be sacked if he fails to heed the corrections. He is so adamant, he should change that formation first
